His Solitude with Us. When God gets us alone through suffering, heartbreak, temptation, disappointment, sickness, or by thwarted desires, a broken friendship, or a new friendship— when He gets us absolutely alone, and we are totally speechless, unable to ask even one question, then He begins to teach us. Notice Jesus Christ’s training of the Twelve. It was the disciples, not the crowd outside, who were confused. His disciples constantly asked Him questions, and He constantly explained things to them, but they didn’t understand until after they received the Holy Spirit (see John 14:26).

As you journey with God, the only thing He intends to be clear is the way He deals with your soul. The sorrows and difficulties in the lives of others will be absolutely confusing to you. We think we understand another person’s struggle until God reveals the same shortcomings in our lives. There are vast areas of stubbornness and ignorance the Holy Spirit has to reveal in each of us, but it can only be done when Jesus gets us alone. Are we alone with Him now? Or are we more concerned with our own ideas, friendships, and cares for our bodies? Jesus cannot teach us anything until we quiet all our intellectual questions and get alone with Him.

13 things I learned about child trafficking from an undercover operation
Wednesday, January 11, is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Our focus was Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST). These are minors (under 18) and US citizens.

It was an eye-opening, two-day operation. Here's what I learned, in part from Giselle Rodriguez, state outreach coordinator for the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking, who trained us, and in part from my own experiences on the street:

1. We were not in the "bad" part of town but in a area popular with tourists and families.
2. We worked with undercover investigators who regularly monitor DMST happening throughout the city.
3. We saw at least one minor being trafficked, right in the open. We knew there were many more we couldn't see.
4. We talked to hotel owners about DMST and watched their varying reactions. Some said they'd seen girls being trafficked and reported it to the police. Others denied ever seeing anything--but their body language and quick, furtive glances told us otherwise.
5. Girls are controlled by a network of pimps, handlers, and others who are watching her at any given moment from hidden locations. (This is why we were told NOT to try to rescue girls we saw but to get as much information as possible and report to the investigators at our control center.)
6. We must see these girls as victims. They are doing what they do because of force, fraud, and coercion--not because they've made a lifestyle choice.
7. 2,500 children go missing every day--in the US alone. That's 1.6 million a year. Not all of them are trafficked--but they are all at-risk for trafficking.
8. Within 48 hours of running away, a teenager will be approached by traffickers. Most runaways don't bring cash, lunch, or other necessities, so they are easy pickings for traffickers who offer all that and more.
9. Today the average age of a trafficked person is 12 years old. That's the average age, so many are much younger. Traffickers are going after younger and younger children because they are easier to manipulate.
10. One of the common recruiting locations that trafficking recruiters frequent are the halls outside juvenile justice courtrooms.
11. Trafficked children don't call their controllers "pimps" but rather "Daddy" or "Boyfriend." And that's how they really see them. Traffickers work to create a feeling of family because who isn't looking for a family to belong to? Children will ignore the abuse, violence, and control because trauma bonding is so strong. In fact,if you try to rescue a victim of DMST, she will fight you because you have just ruined what she sees as a perfect world.
12. Victims of DMST are trained to lie for their pimps, to take the fall for their "knight in shining armor," and to distrust everyone else (that would be you and me).
13. Once a child is trafficked, her average life expectancy is 7 years.
It is very difficult to rescue a trafficked child--not to mention help them heal.

That's why our goal at The Born2Fly Project is to reach kids before the traffickers do. Our goal is to cut off the supply line of kids by educating them ahead of time about the lies that traffickers tell.

My other goal is that some January in the future we will not need a Human Trafficking Awareness Day. My goal is that one day the world will be free of child slavery.

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person, and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G": I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".

"God, "u" and "i" "dance." God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday. May you abide in God, as God abides in you.

Dictionary Reference

I woke up at 3:30 this morning with God's grace on my mind. I thought about the women and some men I know (and don't know) that haven't made it to a Safehouse, Jailhouse, Churchhouse or a Cinderella Released Joy Recovery meeting. I wondered if they would before it was too late. I feel so blessed and so full of God's favor because I've been able to experience all of the above, and still be alive and hoping for others to be released from the bondages that have them captive. You really can't understand what true freedom is until you've experienced God setting you free from sin's captivity.

Slavery/bondage whether it be human trafficking, addictions, unhealthy relationships, trauma or crisis all have one thing in common "fear." God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, joy and peace as well as the promise for a sound mind.

My prayer this morning is that as I go through the week, I would be able to make five "grace touches" a day. Prefer those other people, whoever God might lay on my heart at a moments notice, and show them favor. As I show favor to others, I believe favor will be meted back to me.

This week I'm going to try and touch five people per day, I don't know in a special way. If I do know them I'm going to touch them in a way I wouldn't normally touch them. These are to be made without expecting anything in return. I believe if you make five connections a day, God will add grace and favor upon you.

God tells us to reach out to those who are hurting, pray for those who are sick, and He will return to you what you have given in greater measure. I don't know about you, but I need more grace, more love, more mercy. Here are some examples of ways you can grace your day:

Spend five minutes talking to someone in the grocery store, bank, fitness club, elevator about their loved ones.

Give a $5 tip to a waitress, bellhop or the person behind you in the drive-through. I pray one day I could afford to tip five people a day $5 and on special days make it a $50! Wouldn't that be awesome? TIPS means To Insure Proper Service. Can you imagine how service would improve in your city or town if just five of us started doing this on a daily basis.

What about that VET, God Bless, or Need Work person? Believe it or not many really are veterans.

Instead of being frustrated at that slow driver, pray that they make it to their destination safely. It might just be me!

1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 (The Message)

Do you have any idea how very homesick we became for you, dear friends? Even though it hadn't been that long and it was only our bodies that were separated from you, not our hearts, we tried our very best to get back to see you. You can't imagine how much we missed you! I, Paul, tried over and over to get back, but Satan stymied us each time. Who do you think we're going to be proud of when our Master Jesus appears if it's not you? You're our pride and joy!

Even though Paul was lonely for his friends,and obstacles kept him from those precious relationships, still his hope remained in the Lord and that the Lord would indeed, keep hope alive. Hope of Character!

Colossians 1:26-29 (The Message)

This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it's out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory. It's that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That's what I'm working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me.

Why are you running? Are you doing it because it brings you glory or glory to God? We should attend to what makes the Lord happy. Tribulation was the norm for the New Testament Church. We should hope that Christ is formed in us and that God would be glorified.

Developing Patience
1-2 By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that's not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

3-5 There's more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we're hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

6-8 Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn't, and doesn't, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn't been so weak, we wouldn't have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

9-11 Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way. If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we're at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah!

The Death-Dealing Sin, the Life-Giving Gift

12-14 You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we're in— first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone, but the extent of the disturbance was not clear until God spelled it out in detail to Moses. So death, this huge abyss separating us from God, dominated the landscape from Adam to Moses. Even those who didn't sin precisely as Adam did by disobeying a specific command of God still had to experience this termination of life, this separation from God. But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it.

15-17 Yet the rescuing gift is not exactly parallel to the death-dealing sin. If one man's sin put crowds of people at the dead-end abyss of separation from God, just think what God's gift poured through one man, Jesus Christ, will do! There's no comparison between that death-dealing sin and this generous, life-giving gift. The verdict on that one sin was the death sentence; the verdict on the many sins that followed was this wonderful life sentence. If death got the upper hand through one man's wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?

18-19 Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.

20-21 All that passing laws against sin did was produce more lawbreakers. But sin didn't, and doesn't, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it's sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that's the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life—a life that goes on and on and on, world without end.

The Hebrew Bible describes Israel as a land blessed with seven fruits and grains:

"a land of wheat and barley, and (grape) vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and (date) honey." (Deuteronomy 8:8)

These seven fruits and grains are called the seven species (shivat haminim). While many other fruits and grains can be found in Israel, the seven species have special status.

The Jews and The Land

The seven species symbolize the close relationship between the Jewish People and the Land of Israel.

Deuteronomy Chapter 8 begins:

"All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers." (Deuteronomy 8:1)

Then the land is described as a good land with the seven species:

"For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths, springing forth in valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey;" (Deuteronomy 8:7-8)

Deuteronomy Chapter 8 ends:

"And it shall be, if thou shalt forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I forewarn you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations that the LORD maketh to perish before you, so shall ye perish; because ye would not hearken unto the voice of the LORD your God." (Deuteronomy 8:19-20)

Thus, according to the Bible, if the Jews observe God’s commandments, they will be given a good land blessed with the seven species. If the Jews do not obey, then they will perish.

The Seven Species and Tu B’Shvat

On Tu B'Shvat, the Jewish New Year for trees, it has become customary to eat and bless the seven species.

1.wheat (chitah)
2.barley (se'orah)
3.grapes (gefen)
4.fig (te'enah)
5.pomegranate (rimon)
6.olive (zayit)
7.date (tamar)

While the almond (shaked) is not one of the seven species, it is the most visible sign of the arrival of Tu B'Shvat in Israel. With the arrival of the midwinter festival of Tu B'Shvat, the pink-white flowers of the almond trees can be seen all around Israel's hillsides.

The 21 Day Daniel Fast

Focus

The fast is a spiritual discipline designed to better connect us with God. Scripture teaches us to pray without ceasing (I Thess. 5:17) and encourages us to be stretched out in our prayers unto God (Acts 12:12). The word praying here implies being stretched out. I encourage you to make a concerted effort to diligently practicing the presence of God during the fast. Stretch yourself beyond your normal capacity to go farther with Him. Stretch your time with Him in prayer and listening. God is the Vine and we are the branches. We must abide in Him or we die and have no fruit. Fruit is grown through time.

This picture was taken in Baggs Cemetary in Long County, Georgia. It is near the plantation owned by Archibald Baggs my Great Great Great Grandfather, farmer and immigrant from England. He bought this cemetary and donated it to the county. There were marked and unmarked graves, detailing much history about the Baggs Family.

Psalm 91

He Who Dwells...
Have you told your problems how big your God is today?
Psalm 91:1 says, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty."

This sounds like a pretty straight forward verse, yet we often find ourselves dwelling on our problems instead.

We waste our energy wondering how and why rather than who. Who can overcome these issues? Who is bigger than what's in front of me? Who knows the outcome of my situation? It's the "who- factor" that matters!

God is the one who can conquer your problems. Dwell in God and not on your problems!
Notice this verse tells us to dwell in His shelter. Friend, your problems aren't a shelter. Focusing on your problems won't keep you safe and secure.

God wants you to cling to Him no matter what. You're always going to have problems, and some of them are going to seem bigger than life. The question is, are they bigger than God?

Once you put your problems in the right perspective the answer is obvious. There is nothing God can't handle, no matter how big it may seem. Rest knowing He is in control of it all!

Just because you're unable to see over the mountain doesn't mean God is. Dwell in His shelter and He will help you get to the other side!

The Rev. Thomas Baldwin

Thomas Baldwin (1753-1825), an influential pastor and well-known author, was born and raised in Connecticut until the age of 16 when he moved to New Hampshire, where he later became a member of the State Legislature. As a young man, he was many times called upon to read sermons before his church when the minister was absent. In 1783, he became an ordained evangelist and for 7 years traveled on horseback among the state’s towns, preaching the Gospel until 1790, when he became the pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Boston. (This is the church where he was pastoring when he preached this Thanksgiving Sermon in accordance with the national Thanksgiving Proclamation issued by President George Washington). In 1803, Baldwin began publication of the Massachusetts Baptist Missionary Magazine, later renamed the American Baptist Magazine (the only Baptist publication in America for years), of which he was the only editor until 1817 and the senior editor until his death in 1825. During his lifetime, Baldwin published 34 separate works, including several books and numerous sermons (published at the special request of his hearers). Baldwin died in Maine at the age of 72, having the day before his death preached two sermons in Massachusetts.

Today I saw the movie Julie & Julia. It was an awesome movie and detailed how an individual can have so many gifts and skills, yet feel so insignificant. Then one day something happens to change that. You find purpose and passion in life.

I can't really say that I'm there yet, but this movie really helped me to see that really nothing happens by accident, and yet we must take initiative to sometimes fulfill the plans and purposes God has in store for us. We can't sit back idle and expect destiny to jump in our laps.

Take today and tomorrow Labor Day to reflect on Christ's labor of love and how special we are in His eyes. He has everything so marvelously worked out if we would only accept...it.

The movie The Mission with Robert DeNiro was brought to my mind today. Watch it, it is a life changing movie, especially the scene of him climbing up the side of a mountain with pounds and pounds of supplies on his back. So oppressing! He takes the heavy load, cuts and lets it fall to the bottom. He continues his climb, looking up and to the place above -- his destination.

I thought about my daily life and how I try to climb to the top so many times with so much baggage. I get focused on the weight instead of the Lord and it's days like today when I'm waiting in a hospital with my 87 year old father who is faced with the threat of cancer, and he's making the nurse laugh and feel better after she's just rolled his vein. "It's ok," he said, "You didn't hurt me." He's told me so many times, that he just doesn't like making anyone "feel bad." It's times like this I see the man God created so beautifully nearly a hundred years ago.

Eac day and each place and person we meet is a mountain. We can address the climb weighted down, or cut the bundle of burdens we carry or think we need, and just simply enjoy the beauty of the mountain climb on our way to the destination and places God wants us to go to carry His love.

As we carry His love, He is faithful to carry us through any situation we find ourselves in.

Today was a “GOD” day!

Today Cinderella Released met Tessa Treu and we became "forever friends." Today my life was changed and blessed because God introduced me to a woman who loves God and radiates His presence.

Tessa's life changed when she gave birth to her first child at age 16. She had to make some choices and changes. She learned what she needed to do to become a good mother and has learned to receive the wonderful gift of grace and love in her life. The Lord has given her big dreams and powerful vision. "Inside Out" is the name of the organization and she is empowering young women.

Three Friends - Fact, Faith & Feeling

Fact, Faith, and Feeling were walking on the fence together. Fact is God's Word, it says, nothing shall ever separate me from the love of God, my Faith accepts and receives this, and it makes me Feel good.

I am ok as long as I allow "Feeling" to follow "Faith and Fact".

Signs and wonders follow those that believe(have faith in) the fact (truth of God's words). If we are walking on the fence in this manner, we will be steadfast and feel good about our walk.

Picture this scenerio; The three (Fact - Faith - Feeling)turn around and began to follow Feeling . They all three fell off the fence! WHY? We can't follow feeling.

We must follow Fact based on Faith which will eventually produce the right Feeling...

Romans 8:35-39 (The Message)

31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! The Coffee Cup

Dear Seed Sower Deb,

You asked about my dad. This morning I'm home with him. His heart is getting weaker and weaker but he is still able to crack a joke.

I always make coffee when he stays home and this morning I took him another cup. Usually I take him a small delicate cup, but this one was heavier. He needs the exercise! Of course he lays down and drinks his coffee because he is weak. I poured him a refill and he said, "This is the height of laziness." He meant, laying in bed drinking coffee.

He keeps asking me if his brain is ok? He's worried about becoming demented. I assure him he's still all there. This has been a serious learning experience being at home with my dad who is 87. I've learned a lot.

He is always thankful for every little thing and rarely complains. One thing I've noticed is that he is able to discern whenever he is anxious about something. He knows and understands whether or not something is a matter that you should get upset about. He says, "my nerves are bad, I get upset over something I shouldn't get upset over."

This reminded me of Phil 4:6 "Be careful (anxious)for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

Cinderella Released, Below is today's reading from Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest. I thought of you (and me too) when I read this.

I, like you, want to do for God. Do this, do that, do something. But, here I am at home with Jordan... Reading this, my heart burst with joy.... what better place to be... here... able to minister to my little boy, focus on the Creator of the universe, in His Word, pray, sing songs of praise... concentrating on Him only to grow spiritually as the lillies. I am going to buy and plant some flowers at my back door steps... this is one thing I can do and concentrate on my creator at the same time. When I come in and go out, I will be reminded of how the God of all creation cares and loves me (and you). The second italicized portion below reminds me of you - you have always been a faithful woman of God, like the stars at night there each night shining out, consistent as a friend, a mother, a daughter. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they simply are! Think of the sea, the air, the sun, the stars and the moon - all these are, and what a ministration they exert. So often we mar God's designed influence through us by our self-conscious effort to be consistent and useful. Jesus says that there is only one way to develop spiritually, and that is by concentration on God. "Do not bother about being of use to others; believe on Me" - pay attention to the Source, and out of you will flow rivers of living water. We cannot get at the springs of our natural life by common sense, and Jesus is teaching that growth in spiritual life does not depend on our watching it, but on concentration on our Father in heaven. Our heavenly Father knows the circumstances we are in, and if we keep concentrated on Him we will grow spiritually as the lilies.

The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mold us.

If you want to be of use to God, get rightly related to Jesus Christ and He will make you of use unconsciously every minute you live.

I am your shield of protection. Many times you wonder where I am in the midst of the battle that rages around you. You feel abandoned on the battlefield. Don’t be afraid and don’t lose faith. Seven years ago, Sandy Shepherd got an unexpected phone call as she headed to her daughter's high school musical rehearsal. A mother of three, living in affluent Colleyville near Fort Worth, she was already beginning to imagine life as an empty nester. She wasn't thinking about changing the world.

On the line was Deacon Neel Choate from her church, First Baptist. He told her that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) had just picked up seven Zambian boys—all part of a touring choir they both knew. First Baptist had hosted the choir previously. Choate said the boys needed a place to stay or they would spend the night in jail.

Could she house all seven overnight?

Shepherd took a deep breath. For two years, Shepherd had passionately supported this choir, utterly unaware that she and her church were being duped.

A Baptist missionary, Keith Grimes, had recruited the boys to tour America with his ministry, TTT: Partners in Education. Grimes had made big promises to the boys and their families. He had inspired them with talk of salaries, an American education, and stipends for families back in Zambia. Grimes had also claimed the tour would raise money for Kalingalinga, the grindingly poor shantytown that provided its fresh-faced sons for these tours 6,000 miles from their homes.

Abuse Leaves Its Mark on the Brain

Child abuse doesn't just cause emotional problems; it also causes long-lasting changes the brain. A new study shows that in men who were abused as children, a gene involved in stress control is affected even decades later, following a pattern also seen in stressed baby rats.

Rat studies have revealed that maternal neglect alters the workings of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, a system that secretes particular hormones in response to stress (ScienceNOW, 2 August 2004). In the abused animals, the regulatory region of a gene for the glucocorticoid receptor, responsible for damping down the HPA response, doesn't do its job properly. As a result, the animals experience chronically higher stress levels.

Now, researchers have identified the same phenomenon in human brains. Neuroscientist Michael Meaney and colleagues at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, compared postmortem brains of 12 men who had been abused as children and had committed suicide with those of two age-matched groups: nonabused men who had also killed themselves, and nonabused men who had died suddenly from other causes.

The researchers extracted DNA from the hippocampus, a brain area where the gene is active. They found that the abused men showed the same changes as the abused rats: increases in methylation at a site in the promoter of the gene, which made it less capable of modifying the stress response. The change was not seen in the two other groups.

"This is a beautiful study," says neuroscientist Eric Nestler of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. It supports the idea that epigenetic changes--that is, events that affect gene expression but not the DNA sequences of the genes themselves--in specific nervous system genes "may be an important mechanism by which environmental exposures cause long-lasting behavior change."

Over the past decade, evidence has been accumulating that "abused individuals are less healthy in adulthood," Meaney says. They suffer not just from mental illness but also from obesity, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders. This research, he says, may be a first step in finding out why.

The February issue from David Wilkerson this month talks about what it means to live by faith. Hard times are upon many here in America. Some of you are there, I know I am. He also talks about the prophet Habakkuk and how it

(Habakkuk 2:4) is the first mention of the concept of living by faith. Later, in the New Testament, the apostle Paul invokes the phrase three times. And today Habakkuk 2:4 remains one of the most preached texts in all of Scripture. It has formed the basis of many church doctrines.

The article goes on to talk about the historical context of the passage, and how it was a word to Israel how they were to live in the days of coming crisis.

If you haven't read the newspapers, watched TV lately, you might not be concerned, however after much discussion with my 86 year old father, who has lived through a lot, I am convinced we are living in the last days talked about in God's Word.

I am and have been grieved in my spirit for a while, just as Habakkuk was grieved deeply by everything God showed him. Several years ago, I gave up listenting to TV, reading financial articles, participating in political discussions because it grieved me more, and so I eventually I think I took a very passive attitude. Over the past two years, I have been fighting a mental, physical, financial and spiritual battle, and the Lord has in my quiet time been speaking to me to arise and become active again. His Spirit is calling me to arise to attention and to the hour in which we are living.

In days past I would be on the streets, proclaiming repentance, and I believe there was a time for that for me, and I would gladly do it again, if the Lord tells me to. I have also been through seasons of deep travail, intercession, weeping and wailing for my family members, our country, it's leaders, the sins that were overtaking the world. I am thankful there are many people praying for our loved ones, our nation and our world. There is hope for the lost.

God has been restoring my physical health, restoring my mental courage, restoring my spiritual faith, and restoring the joy of the Lord to my soul. We will need to be "JOYFUL" givers in the days ahead and living in a place of faith and courage in order to help others stay strong in the Lord.

I'm not quite certain where God is calling me to be "stationed" but wherever and with whomever, I know the hour is drawing closer.

This past week there were 4 home invasions, near me and my family, one girl was raped, while their houses were plundered. A bank was robbed across the street from one of the police stations, another child was abducted from the area near us and the police have no leads. There were 44 sex offenders in a very small radius.

This type of violence and lack of protection had fallen on Israel. Instead of telling Habakkuk He was going to stop the evil doer, God warned Habakkuk, that more war, famine and desolation was coming. Habakkuk says,

When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice of rotteness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble (he wanted to die): when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

(3:16)

I belive the only answer to the days ahead is to keep our eyes firmly planted on the Lord, the author and finisher of our faiht. We must set our hearts to wait on God, for a word.

I will stand on my guard post, and station myself on the rampart: I will keep watch to see what he will speak to me, how I may reply when I am reproved

(2:1, my italics)

Wilkerson goes on to explain in his newsletter, "Then the incredible word received by Habukkuk was meant not only for his day but this generation." "At the end it shall speak" "By faith" is the only way God's people are ever able to face a calamity or affliction." Wilkerson makes a very bold statement, backed by scripture "To live by one's faith is to see God's hand and his holiness in all calamities and shaking: The Lord is known by the jugment which he executeth" (Psalm 9:16) "When thy hand is lifted up, (the wicked) will not see" (Isaiah 26:11)

The world is not seeing God's chastening coming, but it is already happening. If we are to live by faith, we must have a reverential fear of God's power.

These are two sides of God's nature - righteous judgment and merciful love - require we live by faith

, says Wilkerson.

We must however, not fear for the future of God's church in calmaitous times. The Bible tells us "In the latter times some shall depart from the faith" (I Timothy 4:1) In perilous times such as ours, leaders will arise "having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof" (2 Timothy 3:5).

Wilkerson and I go on to say, there is no promise that we won't suffer, lose our property, our loved ones, even our lives in the days ahead. Multitudes are on the edge of making choices to break the law in order to feed their families.

I had a very scary dream the other night, and the choice was before me, but God showed me that if I would stand by Him, He would stand by me.I Peter 1:3-9 promises us

"According to his abundant mercy (he) hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith being much more precious than of god that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

Cinderella Released met Dr. Bales at the International Book Club, January 16th at Seminole Community College where he educated the group on what slavery is and what it is not. He described slavery as a human being that is being controlled by violence or threat, working without payment, and being economically exploited. A slave can’t walk away from his/her life without making the choice he would rather starve than be a slave. Slavery only exists because of human greed. He explained why the supply and demand of slaves and human trafficking had risen so dramatically over the past 50 years. He explained, “It is due to wars, conflicts, globalization, global warming, but particularly, kleptocracies.” These are governments that extends the personal wealth and political power of government officials and the ruling class (collectively, kleptocrats) at the expense of the population.

Luke 2:36 And there was one Anna, a “prophetess”, the daughter of Phanuel , of the tribe of Aser. She was of great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;

Prophetess - As a “prophetess” Anna, was a “forseer” or one whom the Lord showed things that were coming ahead. She was “inspired by God”. In order to see what was ahead, she must first had to be a “hearer” of the words of God and have an intimate relationship with Him.

Face of God -Anna was the daughter of Phanuel which means face of God. As a daughter, Anna was covered by her father Phanuel. He took responsibility for her. I believe this scripture is showing that God’s face was upon Anna. His eyes, ears, mouth, nose were covering her. His face or presence was covering, leading and guiding her at all times. As a leader and representative of Christ we need to seek the “face of God” spending time alone in his presence walking only by His direction and guidance. As ministers of God’s word we should only speak what Christ tells us to speak, guarding our words carefully so when others look into our face they see and hear Jesus.

Happy - The tribe of Aser (name means happy) might suggest that this tribe was glad and grateful to serve the Lord. When a person is happy they are usually content. Everything above that is an extra blessing. Anna was happy to serve and give up the material things life offered for a life of service in the temple.

Lived - She had lived seven years with her husband ( Luk 2:36 ), and been a widow eighty-four years; so that if she married at the earliest marriageable age, twelve years, she could not at this time be less than a hundred three years old. Lived in this scripture also might indicate that Anna, although she was widowed early in her life, once she had married, she matured quickly having learned the things God intended for her to learn through her brief marriage. Now she was “suddenly” ready for God’s divine call to help her step into her destiny. The Lord allowed her to marry but then called her into the “priesthood”  which consisted of taking care of the temple by fasting and praying. The Lord gave her insight, wisdom and the ability to see face of God. She had a “happy” and grateful spirit even though she was only married for a short time. There is no doubt that after serving for 84 years in the temple she spent much time by herself alone with God.

And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that 2looked for redemption (ransoming) in Jerusalem.

Coming in --"presenting herself." She had been there already but now is found "standing by," as Simeon's testimony to the blessed Babe died away, ready to take it up "in turn" (as the word rendered "likewise" here means).

Spake of him to all them -- the sense is, "to all them in Jerusalem that were looking for redemption"--saying in effect, In that Babe are wrapped up all your expectations. If this was at the hour of prayer, when numbers flocked to the temple, it would account for her having such an audience as the words imply [ALFORD].

This was Anna’s greatest moment. The moment she had waited. The ultimate proof of the prophecy she had spoke of so many times. Don’t you imagine that after eighty-four years of serving in the temple, fasting, praying and hearing the voice of the Lord, speaking out the promise, that some might have thought her mad? I can just see her holding up the baby Jesus praying out loud and proclaiming what He was about to do. I can see her presenting Him to the others in the temple, hearing her proclamation and beholding the beauty of His Holiness. Don’t you know the Word of God was flowing in the temple that day? I can’t imagine anyone could hold Anna back from shouting and declaring: Y’shua (Salvation) El Elyon (Most High), Kadosh (Holy One), Gaol(Redeemer), Shaphat (Judge) and Palet (Delverer) YOU ARE HERE!

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4 The Hebrew word for waiting in the above passage is chakah {khaw-kaw} which means to wait, wait for, await, tarry, to wait (in ambush) or to long for.

He told them God, who had existed long before their ears could hear or their eyes could see would once again act in Israel’s behalf. They just had to “wait” for and “long for” Him. Isaiah had this revelation knowledge and understanding of God’s love for His people and that He could and would provide whatever they needed, provided there was a “father-child” relationship.

“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we are all the work of thy strength and power.” God’s strength and power is revealed by and through His creation. All of creation sees the miraculous creative power and strength of God. What other God has ever been able to do what our God has done?

There was a man who had bought a new pickup. One Sunday morning he saw that someone had spray painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown reason). Another neighbor came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off. It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint job that was on the truck. I'm impressed! WD-40 who knew?

Water Displacement #40. The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'water displacement' compound. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD- 40. The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts. Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you.

When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your stovetop. Voila! It's now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed.

Here are some of the uses:

Today, I want us to deal with thoughts of uncertainty.

"What's going to happen in the world?" "What's going to happen in the economy?" "How's this going to affect my finances?" "I don't know what I'm going to do."

These thoughts of uncertainty in an unstable world must be dealt with.

The devil wants you uncertain and afraid. The world's system of news, government, and business wants people in uncertainty and fear to make us dependent upon it.

In Genesis 26, there arose a great famine in the land. The first thing that God told Isaac was: DO NOT GO DOWN TO EGYPT.

"Egypt" represents the world's system apart from God. As long as we depend on this world's system, we will be uncertain and insecure in trying times.

Thinking that things will be ok if the "economy" turns around will breed uncertainty as well. We must not depend on this world's "economy." Listen to the original meaning of this word: "rules of the house."

Well, we're not playing by the rules of the world's house. We're playing by the rules of God's House! When we do, we will have absolute certainty and assurance.

Let's revolutionize our thinking and fast from thoughts of uncertainty:

Renew your mind to God's system of doing things— the kingdom of God means: His government, economy, system, rules of the house! Mark 4:26 says, "The Kingdom (system, rules of the house) of God is like a man who casts seed into the ground." Live by the system of sowing and reaping.

Realize that you can determine your future by the seeds you sow. Sow faith seeds. Sow word seeds. Sow praise seeds. Sow financial seeds. As you do, assurance and confidence will fill your heart.

Expect God to lead you by the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says the Spirit of Truth will reveal to you the things to come. Just as God showed Joseph that famine would come; just as He showed the Magi to go a different way because Herod would try to kill them in Matthew 2:1-12; He will show you as well.

God is no respecter of persons. What He did for others, He will do for you. You must fill your mind with this truth; and expect Him to lead you. (Acts 10: 34, 35; Eph. 6: 9; Col. 3: 25; I Pet. 1: 17)

You can be certain that He called you and chosen you, therefore you will not stumble. (2 Peter 1:10) Tell yourself that.

Pray in the Holy Spirit. When we don't know what to pray, the Spirit helps our weaknesses and prays for us in our inner man, as we yield to His language. Romans 8:26 tells us praying in the Spirit means praying the Word, praying with praise, and praying with the beautiful gift of tongues. Look at this awesome verse in the Message Translation: Romans 8:26-28 says, "Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good."

Think it & Say It:

I can be certain in uncertain times. I am not connected the economy of this world—the rules of their house. I am connected to God's economy—the rules of His house. I live by the system of sowing and reaping. I can be certain about the future by sowing the seeds of God's Word.

I am led by the Spirit of God. He will reveal to me the things to come, so I can prepare accordingly; and be victorious no matter what comes. Just as He led men and women in Scripture, He will lead me, since He is no respecter of persons.

I am called and chosen by God and therefore I will not stumble. When I don't know what to do, I will trust the Holy Spirit and allow Him to pray through me—bringing me into the perfect will of God no matter what is going on in this world, in Jesus' Name!

CELINE DION - BEAUTY & THE BEAST

I’ve been writing a Bible Study and in the introduction it speaks about the three basic wants and needs of a woman. These points were gleaned from the book Captivated.

1. She wants to be romanced. She wants to know that a man will find her, no matter how long it takes. She wants to be wanted and fought for. She wants to be sought after and desired. She wants to be pursued by someone who exhibits that she is their priority. She wants to be seen, wanted and pursued. If danger surrounds her, she wants to know that someone will rescue her and fight for her.

2. She wants to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure. In other words she wants and longs to be part of something courageous, adventurous, important and good.

3. She wants her beauty to be unveiled.
"I want to be beautiful and make you stand in awe, look inside my heart and be amazed. I want to hear you say who I am is quite enough."

I’m thankful that God can and has fulfilled these aspects in my life.

The three basic needs of a man are:

1. Every man wants a battle to fight. Men are made for battle. A woman’s core desire is to long for a man who will fight for her. A man desires to fight for her.

2. They long for adventure. This is a deeply spiritual longing which put’s them to the test. They find adventure in attempting the impossible. With God all things are possible.

3. They long for a beauty to rescue. They need someone to fight for. This is why men have gone to war with a photo of their loved one in their wallet. They long to offer their strength to the woman who needs and longs for them.

Man’s pursuit of a woman brings out the beauty of a woman.

Seasons of the Sea

This was a "joint" poem written by three women friends who spent time together one summer. The first portion was written by the youngest member, the second by a woman middle aged and the third by an older woman.

I'm standing at the water's edge looking out into the sea,
And all my heart and mind can think is that's where I want to be!

To ride upon the open waves and feel the crashing tide,

To chart my course, to set my sails,and reach the other side.

So I'll wait here at the ocean's shore and dream of days to come,

Until it's time to launch my ship into the rising sun.

I'm looking back toward the shore, my sails set to the wind.

I see past swells I've ridden o'er, crash on the rocks and sand.

Shallow waters fade away and deeper waters come.

I catch the wind deep in my sails and jump the waves what fun!

Windless days and starless nights make my path unsure.

I sit and ponder on my plight my ship aimed back to shore.

Then one evening stars reveal the route my Maker's set for me.

I set my jib to turn about and venture out to sea.

I'm tossed about by the raging storm as the waves wash o'er my deck.

My soul's Captain guides my vessel, so there's no way this ship will wreck.

His vision burns within me,His hand upon the wheel.

His voice speaks to the storms of life "Quiet, peace be still."

I'm sailing o'er the ocean depths now,far from the sight of land,

Flowing ever more swiftly according to my Master's plan.

As the tide of the Holy Spirit carries me along.

I'm totally dependent on my God unhampered by the throng.

Exhilaration and Joy overwhelm me, to be chosen for such an adventure.

Knowing I will fulfill my calling and reach my final destination.
